The evening of May 1st I experienced the Orchestrion Project, conceived and directed by Pat Metheny at The Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver. I obeyed the request not to take photos or make recordings, so I will offer the readily available ubiquitous You Tube examples and links to official sites where some images are available. "The movement is “more than just Standing Rock — it is about the world.” In that sense, the protests underscore the need to shift the nation’s dependence on fossil fuels toward alternative, renewable energy sources. Doing so would require corporations such as ETP to stop profiting off the future of people’s livelihoods." Hooray for all the protests against Energy Transfer Partners around the country, including Sane Energy Project's reading and presentation of documentary filmmaker, Lee Ziesche's recently published article about Camp White Pine and the Gerhart family's fight against ETP's Mariner East 2 pipeline, along with spreading information about Chase bank's investments in ETP.
#nopipelines New technology does not require pipelines to transport bitumen. These pipelines are not needed and they destroy our environment with constant leaks that contaminate water and pollute the soil.
EDITORIAL: National Energy Board needs overhaul

The federal government must overhaul the National Energy Board (NEB), especially its environmental assessments, before any more harm is done to eastern Canada.

"Now, around the world, solar energy costs about 8 cents a kilowatt hour. That's down 70 percent since 2010, and those costs are going to continue to come down as we develop the technology." And there's no methane, no tearing down trees, no explosions or leaks, no peak sun or peak wind to worry about. When the heck are we going to keep fossil fuels in the ground?

"The Hellenic Register of Shipping, an independent organization that oversees shipping safety, said that the tanker had not been certified as seaworthy, although its owner, Fos Petroleum, said that it had all of the proper credentials. The Greek Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy did not respond to several requests for information." There are so many problems with everything that happened regarding this oil spill from the tanker sinking, not least of which is that the oil should have stayed in the ground in the first place.
