Paul Plimley is a great musician, composer and really amusing friend. right now we are working on two major musical projects, “You Are Here” (YAH) and “The Coffee Cats” .
You Are Here (YAH) is a high technology duo currently working on producing a DVD of original music and visuals. MAGIC Lab at the University of British Columbia submitted a grant application to the Canada Council on March 1, 2009 for us to become resident artists. this would give support for us to work on our project “Energy=Music/Colour2″ [E=MC2] that will explore gesture control of musical and visual parameters.
When we get frustrated with all of our techno-toys, Paul and I turn to our trusty acoustic and electric instruments and play some music from the heart. Paul’s spoken word and Victoria’s vocal stylings add to the mix of retro instrumental fun with “The Coffee Cats” .
Paul is best known for his recordings and performances on piano, but he has developed his abilities on guitar and is now a very fine player. Victoria has been playing electric guitar with slide and without for decades, but has recently fallen in love with the nylon string classical guitar.
Harkening back to the 1950′s coffee house “Beat Poetry” and reaching forward into the future of what could be, this collection of material will soon be improvised and recorded. We may even cover some tunes . . .
