Banff Views

Many photos have been taken since I came to Banff, but the projects that I am involved in have kept me very busy. Today, I had a chance to organize my photos and make another gallery. There is a really large, new building under construction at the Banff Centre and today (Tues, June 9, 2009) the electricity was scheduled to be connected. This meant that the electrical power had to be turned off to all of the other buildings, then the new connection could join the grid. Without A/C power there was little I could do, so I went exploring.
Banff Hot Springs is a short motorcycle ride through the town and up the mountain, so I decided to enjoy my first hot springs visit. The following photos show the early days of cloud and cold at the Banff Centre leading to the blue skies we saw today. The mountains are endlessly fascinating photo subjects and the hot springs have a different view than the Banff Centre. The hot springs were developed into a pool with chlorine, but I think they still leave the minerals in the water. The temperature was like a hot bath and steam wafted off the surface into the colder air. I found it very relaxing, but a lot like a very heated swimming pool. Someday, I’d like to visit some wilder hot springs where the natural surroundings still exist and there is no chlorine. This was well worth the effort and I am glad to have the day off for this experience.
